Chia seeds are an extremely healthy for you superfood that everyone should eat! I don’t get people who say they don’t like them. Chia seeds don’t taste like anything, there’s nothing to dislike here in my opinion. The only problem I have with them is waiting for them to absorb the liquid they’re in, because I’m impatient. If you don’t like them, you probably haven’t prepared them correctly. Most people try to make them into pudding and stuff – in my opinion, they are much better (texture-wise) for jam than pudding.
Chia Seed Jam
- 1 cup Fruit of your choice – I used oranges, but something like berries would probably be better
- 1 TBSP chia seeds
- 1 TBSP water
- Sweetener to taste (optional)
In a food processor or blender, puree the fruit for a few seconds – so it’s still a little chunky, not completely liquid. In a separate bowl or container, mix in the chia seeds and water with the fruit puree. Set aside to let the chia seeds absorb the water – for at least a half hour or up to over night. That’s it!
You can spread it on toast or stir it into vegan yoghurt – or just eat it straight with a spoon like I do, as you might be able to see in the above photo if you squint really hard. 😉 The orange jam I made didn’t look like much but it tasted great!
