When we were choosing where to go for lunch on the last day of our trip, it came down to either One Lucky Duck or Curly’s. I LOVE One Lucky Duck and I had never been to Curly’s before so I was a little hesitant to go there, to be honest. When I took a look at their online menu, however, I saw that they had a dish called “Dragonbowl Z” and that pretty much convinced me to go. I mean come the hell on, it’s freaking DRAGONBOWL Z! I took a Twit Pic as proof of its existence.
If I remember correctly, we ordered the mocknuggets as an appetizer. They were delicious. While we were waiting for our meals to come we drew on the placemats with crayons and looked at all the other placemats of people who had been there before us:
We spent forever looking at all the drawings here. There were so many clever ideas and so much inspiration!
A word of warning before you order here: the portions are gigantic!! That was no problem for us since we were planning to save some to eat later anyways, which is why I ordered so much, but holy shit!
I ordered the rack of tempeh ribs which came with a bunch of other stuff. I’m not too keen on faux meat, not because I’m morally opposed to it or anything silly like that, mostly just because I prefer good old fashioned vegetables for how good they taste. But it’s not every day that I get to order a vegan rack of ribs at a restaurant, and I like tempeh, so I figured I’d go all out. I’m glad I did because it was orgasmic! The milkshake (mine was the chocolate one) was also incredible.
Rob got some non-vegan sandwich thing so it gets no picture or review since I couldn’t take a bite of it. Tsk tsk, fucking tsk.
One thing of note: their menu site has a bunch of bad reviews that says the service there is bad. Totally not true! Our waitress was incredibly attentive, polite, and fast – definitely nothing to complain about there.
Overall I was so glad we decided to go there! I will definitely be back next time I’m in NYC and I think everyone should give their food a try, even if they aren’t veggie!!!
